It's never just a concert recorded as part of a promotional operation for Italian wines, but among these impromptus recorded "in the cellar" by different winegrowers, this one seems to me the most striking. No other title than Mouvement I, II, III and IV. We can guess the total improvisation and without any other pretext than the wine situation. And the least we can say is that it has nourished the senses of the story of our three aces of instant composition: Régis Huby (vln), Bruno Chevillon (b), Michele Rabbia (dm).

Under the generic title 'A Night At The Winery', the Cam Jazz label (Harmonia Mundi) hosted six evenings of concerts from 5 to 10 June 2017 in the cellars and wineries of six vineyards in the Venice-Frioul Julienne region. This Italian territory, which borders Slovenia, is renowned for its vineyards, and particularly for its white wines. A great opportunity to invite jazzmen (no jazzwomen, although I know some who love and know wine...) to express themselves in these places of culture and memory. From solo to trio, very personal (and very diverse) musical proposals... And last but not least, a trio that associates the Turin percussionist Michel Rabbia with two Frenchmen in love with Italy: Régis Huby on violin, and Bruno Chevillon on double bass. A disc entitled "Reminiscence") and a repertoire signed by all three, and which one guesses improvised, but whose form and developments recall the best of contemporary written music: the miracle of talent, work, concentration, empathy and extreme complicity. In short, for these tightrope walkers of improvisation (who are also composers), one more step in a journey that does honour to (very) lively music.
