This ensemble is the fruit of over twenty years of encounters and collaborations, some very recent, with vibraphonist Illya Amar, or flutist Joce Mienniel, and some very long, with Guillaume Roy, with whom we founded Quatuor IXI over twenty years ago, or Catherine Delaunay, with whom we've collaborated on numerous projects.
These are circles, circles of friendship, humanity and listening.
We are particles in orbit, all autonomous, all different, but all connected to each other by the force of gravity that is music.
For me, the Ellipse symbolizes these trajectories, these infinite cycles, these orbital rotations of molecules all connected to each other in a perfect, fragile balance. Trajectories full of questions and mysteries about who we are and what surrounds us, yet which we never stop questioning in the hope of finding an answer in the infinitely large or the infinitely small.
